Wants & Needs
A car needs gas, frequent oil changes, and its tires to be occasionally replaced to keep on going.
Plants need light, water and good soil to keep on growing.
Animals need food, water, shelter, and their young ones need a mother’s nurturing and protective touch to survive.
What about you and me?
What do we need to keep us going, growing, surviving, and thriving?
Unlike inanimate objects, trees, and animals our human needs are not satisfied with food and water alone.
Reaching the pinnacle of beauty, knowledge, money, material, fame, fortune, relationships, or professional and academic success does not seem enough to meet the deepest longings of our souls.
So then, what is it that we need beyond meeting the basic needs of our bodies for food, and engaging our five traditional senses?
What else can we possibly need beyond climbing succesfuly the Mount Everst of our financial, intellectual, and love lives?
In the school of life we all learn sooner or later that our souls’ needs can’t be met by satisfying the wants and desires of our bodies and minds alone. My soul, and yours, are restless without meeting their deep and unseen spiritual needs.
So friend, what does my soul and yours need? How can these needs be met? And why is it important and compelling that I use the art and craft of medicine, that I’ m truly privileged to practice, to shed light on these vital needs of the soul?
Join me in other posts as we reflect together and ponder over soul’s fundamental need for LOVE among others..
